I'm with Oblivion on this. If people wanted to show that they were here during the event, they can use the mask, which, unlike Oblivion, I do happen to like. But the piggy was to show how lucky you were, also. Did EVERYONE get the max lucky title last year? I don't think so. The fact that I can say "I got my piggy on my 57th try!" made me feel happy and fairly lucky. Now I won't be able to say that, because everyone else will reply, "So? We didn't do anything and we still got our! Hahaha, sucker, noob."
See the problem? He's not saying that he doesn't want anyone to have them because he's selfish, it's because it USED to be a sign of either A) Luck or B) Alot of time... Both of which are worth showing off.

You do not have a CLUE what you are talking about. You think I wanted to scam people by selling my "uber 1337" pig that was only ever worth 20k??? You think these things are rare?????? When every single person in the game will get one from several different finales??? You do not have a clue.

And what's wrong with thinking the event was great? It seems that you can't handle people having a different opinion than you yet you're telling everyone that you're entitled to your own.
You did have some valid complaints but your whole post was negative. It seemed nitpicky rather than actually pointing out flaws (e.q. your bashing of the mask was very nitpicky)
Basically you came off as whiney. Yes, I agreed with some of your points but I dont agree with your tone and attitude.

Having spent a couple hours farming the chef items and tokens, I am frustrated by only getting a measly handful of lunar tokens while everyone in my district freeloads a free mini pig. The mini pig reward I recieved for getting tokens was supposed to be something I earned. Now everyone has one. I suggest a boycott of chef item farming! Let those who want mini pigs work for them themselves. I know many of those who spent the time and effort to get items for this event are also those who spend time on forums. Join me in the boycott! No more freeloaders!

Whenever the OP says anything, it's his opinion. But if anybody says anything that counters him, it's wrong. Practice what you preach?

This is exactly how I feel except that I didnt even get a mini pig for all my efforts. I was in a district full of freeloaders while I wasted my ingrediants.

No, when someone disagrees with me it's completely fine. When someone insults me for my opinions like you do I get pissed, and fair enough.

Yes I know my post was negative, you're right, that's how I felt. I did have positives though, such as rollerbeetle being quite fun and sugary drinks. Again though insulting me instead of my ideas, I just don't like it.

Quit whining about insults. I could be much worse. If you think that laughing at a laughable statement and telling you you're taking things too seriously is heinous, then my original statement stands. And as far as it goes, I see others who haven't insulted you in the slightest that you're still getting pissy with, so don't give me that bull.

I'm extremely tempted to close this, because of the level of aggressive nonsense going on. There is some discussion, so I'll leave it for now.
Keep this civil in the discussion of problems with the event (a legitimate topic), or I will be happy to make things quiet down.

As far as I'm concerned, a new minipet (as common as it is), and an awesome minigame like rollerbeetle racing made this event worthwhile. Good enough for me. The hat is cool too (although IMO not in its default color as much as it is dyed in other colors).
No hate for ANet coming from me on this one. Sorry. I'm having fun this weekend.

Think of it this way: If you didn't give the items you farmed to the chefs, you and people in your district might not have got the pig. You did it for yourself. If other people have got some benefit from what you did, isn't that good?
Besides, I don't think those who have got enough pig would participate in the finale again just so he can get the tokens. If they would participate, they'd either:
1. afk so that they might get a pig again,
or,
2. give items to chefs because he still has some leftovers and don't feel like being selfish, or he wants to make sure that he gets another pig.
That's all. Seriously, what's wrong with sharing the happiness anyway?

Well personally I also have a few things to admit. I had hoped we got some minigames at the broadway (or something) to max the title Lucky, but I have not seen anything that could give point to this title. As Anet said, when it goes open, there will be chance to max your title, but the only time I knew I could do this was last years New Years event and another 1 weekend which I missed, so basicly no livers do have this title maxed. Maybe it will come this weekend or monday, but I'm not sure.
Althought I do not have a minipig myself (I'm just always unlucky, even with drops) I agree that it would have been better not to give them away for free, only the mask, maybe another items but not the pet.

Maybe this thread SHOULD be closed. It started out on such an inflammatory tone (just look at the title) what else could you expect other than flames?

I can understand community spirit. But how about some guarantee that the person who farmed all the stuff for one dish at least gets a pig? I sure didnt. Lousy freeloading district...

Wow, I do see a lot of people getting all worked up over this thread and how great or sorry the "festival" was. It is called an opinion for a reason. And here is mine....I think this festival sucked....Big Time.
For one, where were all the exciting games and entertainment value that we got from all the other festivals and events? You walk out expecting to be some ticket game or something and there is just some guy that set up a catapult that you can spend 10g to watch the pig fly throught he air. Oh my god, I saw that and just left the area all together. I admit some people got a kick out of and thought it was funny, but that humor runs out in a very quick time frame.
Second, the fortunes. I realize people spent lots of time playing S/P/C for those fortunes, or exchanged countless tokens to get them to just come up empty handed. Thats just the name of the game and if people wanted to spend that amount of gold to do that then that is their business. I do admit that they could have made the fortunes more enjoyable with the rewards from them. I mean, blessings and curses, who cares. I just walked out of a town, opened all the fortunes up and colected what hit the ground and what I collected I can't use for anything. Worthless if you ask me.
Third, the pig. Gotta be the only good reward from a fortune, if you were lucky. But to have everyone recieve one for free at the ending event is just stupid. I know some people were happy to get them, but that just took all the value of having one away. If you do this with the pig, why not do it with every mini pet so they all can be on an even playing field.
Forth and finally, Rollerbeetle. I have to say this game was pretty fun, FOR THE FIRST FEW TIMES I RACED. After that I was bored and even more so after I saw the top 100 places. I knew I would have to play and place in the top 3 spots for the whole weekend non-stop just to have a shot, and I don't know about everyone else but I have better things to do. Then they say there is a special reward to those that do place in the top 100 spots. Probably will be a mini pig, but only one can hope that the prize is a mini beetle or something. Guess we'll just have to wait on that one. All in all I only liked this game for a very short time until it became boring and unadventful.
All in all I would have to say that I wasn't very pleased with this event and think that the creaters could have put in a little bit more effort to make it more exciting and entertaining for everyone instead of just a few.
But then again, thats just my opinion.
Oh, and the masks are ok, but certainly not the best. Even if they are traditional.

Well, now I have two pigs. Anyone want to buy one? No? Then I spent two hours for a second pig I won't use anymore.

My only disappointment in this event is the lack of the pig chance, I opened 200 "Fortunes" and not a single pig. However on the rest I can't complain

I think whoever post this topic is childish and selfish, GG for you, NEW YEAR is supposed to be happy, so i don't see anything wrong with this event, everyone gets prizes and hats. Don't blame Anet, they are doing a good job. Thanx Anet.

From my experiences, and the events I have attended, there has always been an unknown aspect to all the festivals. Whether that unknown pertains to certain items that you need to farm, to newly introduced items that are required for the finale.
Anet doesn't tip their hat to what these items will be used for and what their potential after event in-game values will be. If you decide to take the time to farm these items thinking that the pay-off will amount to some type of "status symbol" in-game, you will always be disappointed. Investing time into the game during a festival with the intent of obtaining some type of "status symbol" will most always end in disappointment. Its a gamble and sometimes it pays-off and sometimes it doesn't.
The festivals are meant to be fun. If you go into a festival with any other intentions, you're more then likely to come away disappointed.

The items we got were great, I'm happy everyone was able to get a pig. I just wish the Celestial Pigs coming would have been..less boring.
